Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange

The Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange (MAPLE) was set up in Autumn 2007. The aim of the group is to help support organisations currently planning or managing large archive projects, primarily capital developments. There are now over 20 organisations who are represented in the group, ranging from local authority services and universities to specialist repositories across England, Wales and Scotland.

The group provides a forum for organisations to share their experiences, knowledge and plans via an email list and sharing documentation. In addition the group aims to meet a couple of times a year to discuss the progress of projects and explore common issues.

If you are planning a large-scale project, or are willing to contribute your own experience of managing a capital project involving archive provision, then you may be interested in this group. Many of these organisations have received, or are seeking lottery funding to support their projects, but this is not a requirement of membership.
