West Midlands Regional Archive Forum

The West Midlands Regional Archive Forum aims are:

  • To promote the effective preservation of and access to archives within the West Midlands.
  • To assess archival needs within the region in response to national and regional agendas.
  • To work closely with MLA West Midlands and local, regional and national bodies to ensure collective regional priorities.
  • To ensure a constructive dialogue with MLA West Midlands and to act as a consultative body.
  • To develop a dialogue with regional libraries, museums and other cultural sectors to ensure that the widest cultural interests are secured for the archive sector.
  • To encourage cross-sector working and sharing of good practice.

Its functions are:

  • To appoint three members as trustees of the board of MLA: West Midlands - the regional council for museums, libraries and archives, to represent the archive domain.
  • To facilitate dialogue and greater co-operation between repositories, depositors and users in all the archive sectors represented within the region.
  • To foster, explore and promote regional archive projects and opportunities which meet the aims and objectives of the Forum.
