Cefndir / Background

Sefydlwyd Cyngor Archifau Cymru (Archives Council Wales neu ACW) ym Mai 1995. Cynrychiola sefydliadau ymhob rhan o Gymru sydd yn ymwneud â gweinyddu archifau.

Archives Council Wales (ACW) was established in May 1995. It represents institutions and organisations from all parts of Wales involved with the administration of archives.

Amcanion / Aims ACW

Dylanwadu ar bolisi yn ymwneud ag archifau yng Nghymru.
To influence policy on archives in Wales.
Dwyn materion o ddiddordeb cyfredol ym maes archifau yng Nghymru i sylw'r cyhoedd, y llywodraeth a sefydliadau neu gyrff perthnasol.
To bring to the attention of the public, government or relevant institutions or organisations, matters of current concern in the field of archives in Wales.
Darparu ffocws ar gyfer prosiectau cydweithrediadol ym maes archifau yng Nghymru.
To provide a focus for collaborative projects in the field of archives in Wales.
Uno sefydliadau a chymdeithasau yn ymwneud â gweinyddu archifau yng Nghymru a darparu fforwm ar gyfer cyfnewid sylwadau yn rheolaidd.
To bring together institutions and organisations involved with the administration of archives in Wales and to provide a forum for the regular exchange of views between them.

Nodau / Objectives

To facilitate cross-domain meetings and meetings of Welsh archivists and records managers.
To support major archival access initiatives in Wales and the UK.
To provide a focus for collaborative working with CyMAL and other Welsh organisations as appropriate.
To progress collaborative projects such as CatalogCymru and ARCW.
